FAQs
What uPVC windows cost in Kerala, and why.
The questions we hear most often at site visits, from what uPVC windows cost per sq ft in Kerala to how long installation takes. Search below, or browse by topic.
Products
Are uPVC windows safe and secure?
Yes, when they are properly made and fitted. Our frames have galvanised steel reinforcement inside, and opening sashes lock at several points along the frame rather than just one. Toughened or laminated glass adds strength, and safety grills can be fitted where you want extra security, such as ground floors and apartments. Correct fixing to the wall matters too, which is why our own team installs every window.
Are uPVC windows fire resistant?
uPVC is difficult to ignite and tends to stop burning once the flame is removed, so it does not feed a fire the way timber can. That said, no window frame should be treated as a fire barrier, and uPVC softens at high temperatures. For specific fire-safety requirements in a building, follow your architect's or the local authority's guidance.
Do uPVC windows turn yellow or warp in the heat?
Good-quality uPVC profiles are made with UV stabilisers so they resist yellowing in strong sun, and steel reinforcement inside keeps the frame straight in the heat. Problems are more common with cheap, unreinforced profiles. Wood-grain and coloured laminates also protect the surface. A gentle wipe with mild soapy water keeps the finish clean; avoid harsh solvents, which can damage it.
Can uPVC windows be made in large or curved sizes?
Yes, within limits. Large openings are usually divided into combination frames or sliding panels, with steel reinforcement sized to the span. Curved tops are made as arched windows, shaped to the radius of your opening. Maximum sizes depend on the window type, the glass and the exposure of the wall, and are [to be confirmed] for each system. We advise on what works at the site visit.
Price
What is the price of uPVC windows per sq ft in Kerala?
There is no single per sq ft rate, because the price depends on the window type, its size, the glass, the finish, the hardware and the quantity. A large fixed window costs less per sq ft than a small tilt and turn window, and double glazing or wood-grain finishes add to the cost. We measure every opening on a free site visit and send an itemised quote.
What affects the cost of a uPVC window?
Six things matter most. The type of window, since sliding, casement and tilt and turn use different hardware. The size of each opening. The glass, from toughened to double-glazed, laminated or acoustic. The finish, where wood-grain and coloured laminates cost more than white. The hardware and extras, such as mesh and grills. And the number of windows in your order.
What is the price of a uPVC sliding door in Kerala?
The price of a uPVC sliding door depends mainly on its width and height, the number of panels and tracks, the glass, the finish and whether you add a mosquito mesh track. A two-panel balcony door and a wide patio door are very different in cost. Our team will measure the opening on a free site visit and send an itemised quote.
Is the quote itemised, and is installation included?
Yes, every quote is itemised. It lists each window and door separately with its size, type, glass, finish and any extras such as mesh or grills, so you can compare options and adjust the plan. Installation by our own team is shown clearly in the quote. If anything is not included, the quote says so, so there are no surprises later.
Are uPVC windows cheaper than aluminium windows?
It depends on what you compare. Basic aluminium sliding windows can cost less than uPVC, while thermally broken aluminium systems usually cost more. When you add sealing, heat insulation and low upkeep over the years, uPVC often gives better value in Kerala's climate. The fairest comparison is an itemised quote for your actual openings, with the same glass and hardware.
Does adding a grill or mosquito mesh change the price?
Yes, each extra adds to the cost of the window. A mosquito mesh shutter on a sliding window needs a third track and its own frame, and a safety grill depends on its size, design and finish. Many Kerala homes choose both on ground floors and bedrooms. Your itemised quote shows each extra separately, so you can decide where you need them.
Installation
How long does uPVC window installation take?
Installation time depends on the number of windows, their size and the site. A few windows take far less time on site than a whole villa or apartment, which may be fitted in stages. Before that, each frame is made to measure in our Aluva factory. We give you a realistic timeline with your quote and keep you updated as work progresses.
Can uPVC windows replace my existing wooden or aluminium windows?
Yes. Replacing old wooden or aluminium windows with uPVC is a very common job. Our team measures each opening, removes the old frame carefully, then fixes, aligns and seals the new uPVC window into the existing wall. Some making good of plaster around the frame may be needed, and we explain this at the site visit.
How do you take measurements?
Our team visits your site and measures every opening with a laser, checking the width, height, levels and squareness of the walls. We also note the direction each window faces, its exposure to rain and sun, and any access issues. These measurements go straight to our Aluva factory, so each frame is made to fit your actual opening, not a standard size.
When should I order uPVC windows for a new house?
Talk to us early, ideally while the plans are being finalised, so window sizes and types can be designed in. Final measurements are usually taken once the openings are built and plastered, so the frames fit the finished walls. Installation then fits in before the final coats of paint. We will advise on timing for your build.
